On Saturday 20th May a wonderful concert was held by 17 year old Ukrainian refugee, Pavlo Petrychenko who performed to raise funds for the children of Ukraine. Pavlo played some classical pieces as well as some of his own compositions raising over £1000 for Ukrainian children. Thankyou to all you came and well done Pavlo! Michael writes; A superb concert. The Backs are famous the world over. And so too, as a consequence of a picture in the on-line version of The Times, is the Choir of St. John the Evangelist, Hills Road, Cambridge. Wow! You don’t know how good it feels to write that! Think about it! It’s quite something for a small parish choir to be on the international stage – if only for a day! I’ll bet it beats some of those illustrious cathedral choirs this Christmas! Grudgingly, we must admit to it being something to do with the...

Bishop Desmond Tutu
30. January 2022
Bishop Desmond Tutu All at St John's were saddened to hear of the passing of Bishop Desmond Tutu. Our Vicar James reflects here on his time spent with the Bishop. "When I was at Cape Town Cathedral in 1998, as a theological student, Bishop Tutu presided at Communion every Friday at 7am. I served. In the eucharistic prayers he moved seamlessly between English, Xhosa & Africaans. After, we always shared breakfast in a local Cafe - his humour was irrepressible! Later I witnessed a "Truth and...

Christmas Carols on the River

On Sunday 5th December our fabulous choir took part in Let's Go Punting and The Traditional Punting Company's Annual Charity Christmas Carol event; Christmas Carols on the River.
