It is always a joy to welcome children and adults into the Christian Faith and St John's welcomes enquiries about christenings and baptism. Anyone who lives in the parish is entitled to have their child baptised at St John's and we also welcome enquiries from anyone with a connection with the church. You don't have to be christened yourself and you don't have to be a regular church goer.

During a Christening Service, your chid will be baptised and it marks the first step of an amazing journey with God.  At St John's, baptisms usually take place during the 10.00 am Sunday service, often on the second Sunday of the month, which is an All Age service. We will also consider separate Christening services, which would usually take place on a Sunday afternoon.

As a church we take seriously the commitment we make during the service to welcome the newly baptised – whether they are babies, older children or adults. So we look to support and encourage them on their journey of faith, particularly in the various activities we run for children of all ages (such as Toddler Along,  Children's Church, Choir). We also have a dedicated Lay Baptism Visitor, who is happy to meet with you to talk about faith at home.

If you would like to discuss a baptism service, please contact our Parish Office.

The church and its garden are a lovely place for photographs after the service, and car parking is available to those that need it.
